Project Safe Haven

In our community, domestic abuse continues to be a major concern, with limited resources available for women and children fleeing violence. Studies indicate that up to 60% of homeless women and children are fleeing domestic violence. Without safe shelter, access to counseling, and other vital resources, many remain trapped in cycles of abuse. The Safe Haven program seeks funding to address these challenges and support the physical safety, mental well-being, and future independence of abused women and their children.

Project Safe Haven Objectives

The Safe Haven Program aims to:

1. Provide safe housing and emergency support to 50 women and 25 children annually.

2. Deliver trauma-informed counseling and mental health services to both women and children.

3. Offer educational support and after-school programs for children impacted by abuse.

4. Equip women with job skills, financial literacy, and parenting education to help them achieve independence.

Youth on the Move

Mental health issues among youth are rising, with many facing challenges like depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts, leading to severe consequences. The "Youth on the Move" program addresses this gap by offering a holistic approach to mental wellness that combines biblical principles with community service. Many young people lack safe spaces to express their struggles and seek guidance. By partnering with Life in Christ Community Church in Tampa (Pastor Arthur L. Randall) , we create a nurturing environment that fosters personal and spiritual growth. The program also promotes community improvement by engaging youth in service projects and adopting an orphanage, instilling a sense of purpose, empathy, and understanding of societal needs.

Youth on the Move Project Objectives

1. Mental Health Awareness and Support: To educate young adults and youth about mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, anger, and suicidal thoughts, by providing them with coping mechanisms rooted in biblical principles.

2. Community Engagement: To encourage participants to actively engage in community service projects, including feeding the hungry, cleaning up local areas, and supporting the orphanage, fostering a sense of responsibility and empathy.

3. Safe Space for Dialogue: To create a supportive environment where youth can freely express their thoughts and feelings, fostering open discussions about mental health and personal growth in partnership with Life in Christ Community Church.

4. Skill Development: To equip participants with practical life skills and coping strategies that enhance their emotional resilience, helping them to manage stress and negative emotions effectively.

5. Building Relationships: To strengthen interpersonal skills and relationships among youth through teamwork in community service and group discussions, promoting a sense of belonging and support.

6. Long-term Impact: To establish a mentorship program that connects youth with positive role models, ensuring ongoing support and guidance as they navigate their personal challenges.

In summary, the "Youth on the Move" program is essential for addressing the mental health crisis among youth while simultaneously promoting community engagement and personal growth. Through this program, we aim to empower young individuals to combat their struggles, support one another, and contribute positively to their communities.
